Please let me know where this is, so I can scratch it off my possible retirement list!

I've been to the medittarean and Africa at the height of their summer and strangely I found the hot weather there to be much more bearable there than it is in the UK.

Weather warnings...pffff!!!!...I shall be parading my 250lbs of relaxed muscle in a pair of bermuda shorts...perhaps they should issue a warning about that.

Aircon not so common in UK cars until quite recently either. Preparation is everything. Having once transported an expensive classical instrument across England in a non-air conditioned Mitsubishi Spacestar on a long journey when the temp OUTSIDE the car was 34 degrees - 93 Fahrenheit in English, I can remember dreaming wistfully at the time of the Dodge Intrepid we had in Florida one year in which the aircon could create ice cubes within a minute - no really. Classical instruments absolutely hate really hot cars. Not clever.

Glorious day here with temps of 27 expected later. Not a cloud in the sky. RAF flying overhead. We're having a barbecue later with lots of nice Moretti beer. Marvelous.

We are getting more detailed warnings more often here in the States too. Not just the weather. But especially in the winter we get detailed warnings with steps like that to avoid freezing to death I guess. It seems that everyone wants to be dramatic about everything. Makes for better ratings maybe.

It hits 78F here when I put my oven on.

David
I can verify that. We have experienced some seriously freezing weather in the middle of the summer on trips to SF.

I am old enough to remember when AC was not universal. My house didn't have it until I was about 9-10 years old. Back then you did not hear of people succumbing to heat stroke.

We had some pretty bad scenes on the south coast when lockdown evaders all drove to the beaches.

Mercifully the clouds came over on Friday p.m. and we had rain all night.

Sweatshirt vendors in San Francisco do very well in the summer months, from tourists with no understanding of the city’s location and climate

Similar to Florida, the locals break out the woollies when temperatures drop below 70 F.
For perspective, the high here yesterday was 92 but with 59% RH, the heat index was 105. I think I could take some of that dry heat!

Don’t you just love those summer mornings where you step outside and it feels like someone put a warm wet towel over your mouth and nose .
