Default 68 years ago today....

...my fate hung in the balance. Mom and Dad had their first date, and Mom got thrown in the wading pool at the Hunt house (where 12 brothers and sisters had gathered for a family picture - and everyone got thrown in, even Ma Hunt) Would have been pretty easy for Mom to say "you people are crazy" and go home. Thankfully 64 years later they were still together.

Dad's been gone about 2 1/2 years now - wish he was still here to tell the story!

I love these stories! Here we are, about 50 years ago, on about our third date. A week in the Salt River Canyon, class III & IV rapids, and no turning back. She's still crazy enough to do stuff with me

This year would have been 67 years (November)

I believe I've told this here before - but this is a pretty good tale too....

1943 at Vincent Elementary school in Saginaw township Dad is introduced to the class. Mom turns around to the girl behind her and says "I'm going to marry him someday" The girl she said that to ended up being her maid of honor.

They didn't date until the summer between their junior and senior year. Dad was walking home from work and Mom had just gotten off the bus from downtown. He walked her home and the next day he was on her porch asking to see her.
