Default Amp Cable Recommendation

Guitar cables are very simple things. Usually humming or crackling comes from the guitar or amp.

Are you talking guitar cable or speaker (head-to-cabinet) cable - two very different animals, and in no way interchangeable...

I’ve moved to these over the past years, replacing others as they fail. I havent had to replace any of these, despite abuse and neglect. (Thats how we care for cords, right?)

They are mid-price, but top quality. The plugs are bullet-proof. I asked one of the distributors to see if they will consider at least one cord in earth tone color. Theyre thinking about it. They do sell bulk plugs and cable if youre so inclined to DIY.

I have no affiliation, just a very happy customer

my question precisely..

there's like a trillion of them on Amazon, decide what you want to spend, and just buy one...

the Fender Cables are usually pretty good choices.

D'Addario/Planet Waves American Stage series. Neutrik plugs, heavy rubber jacketed cable, fusion soldered. USA. not cheap but really hold up. I've been using them for years, coiling/uncoiling 2x a week, stepping on them etc. No failures.

Are you performing in a band or live frequently?
Probably not in these times.
Moderately priced cables will suffice.

ok so get thee to Amazon, and search for Guitar Cables.

look for a 10 / 15 footer,, the only big question is angled plug or straight?

Most come with angled, and straight...

(I still suggest a $20 fender cable will do ya just fine.. there's no need to spend much more on a cable..)

I've been using the Yorkville Studio One cables for about 10 years now. I don't know if they're available in the US but Yorkville is Long & McQuade's house brand (not to be confused with cheap house brand). Lifetime warranty, no receipt required, just go to the store.

Second the motion. Quality that won't break the bank.

Anything with Neutrik or Amphenol connectors and Mogami cable. Buy once cry once. In my band it's so frustrating to hear our bassist week after week have trouble with crackling cheap cables that were bought from Amazon.

My first set of PA speakers were Yorkvilles. Great stuff, great company. A no-questions lifetime warranty is a pretty serious selling point. But no, we don't see them much down here.

In more enlightened times, house brands were made by some of the major players in the business (Washburn, Gibson, Epiphone, Ampeg, even Martin)...

Absent the "big-name" label and associated advertising costs, these represented real value for players on a tight budget: Sam Ash was selling instruments/amps built by Ibanez and Oliver respectively into the late-1970's, and I'm sorry I didn't grab one of the former...

Unfortunately, for most of the USA/EC chain operations "house brand" has become equated with "cheap" in the most pejorative sense of the word...

As I recall Yorkville was once an independent brand, sporadically available here in the lower 48 through a few independent dealers, and I'm glad to hear that Long & McQuade has adopted them as a true "value per dollar" line without compromising quality...
