Back when we had our guitar shop many years ago, my brother and I used Elmer's Carpenter glue, Titebond, hot hide glue, hot fish glue and liquid hide glue for repairs at various times depending on what we had in the glue pot and whether the pot was hot or not.
Really, they all worked just fine. I don't know what all of the bother is about. Properly applied with a nice clean joint, all of them work nicely. The liquid hide glue does give more open time and that's a factor to be considered, Using HHG, one really needs to work quickly to avoid a cold joint. Of course, if I were working on a vintage instrument that was originally built with HHG, I'd stick to that, but otherwise, I'd use any of the glues. Last edited by Zigeuner; 09-23-2020 at 05:09 PM. |
