I've mentioned in a few recent posts that I bought 2 new Seagulls recently. Here is the first one I bought back in early May: Seagull Folk Cedar. The Reverb ad was from a shop and they described it as a floor model, but Mint condition. It included the nice padded gig bag and they accepted my offer of $375 plus sales tax.

It was indeed Mint condition when I received it and all it needed was some new strings and a little off the TUSQ saddle to dial in the action.

Well, I have really fallen for this little gal. The cedar really sweetens the tone and with the wide fretboard and string spacing, fingerstyle is a dream. Takes a pick very well too, and you really, really have to dig in before the cedar gets over driven. The workmanship is top notch, frets and the fretboard edges are softly rounded and the full neck feels great. Yeah, it's laminate back and sides but the tone sure doesn't suffer for it. Really great value. Pretty guitar too.

The S6 I bought in July was a similar pleasant surprise. This one is a fantastic strummer and the cherry/cedar has more of a rosewood chime on top. Once again, great workmanship and I got this one for the same price, $375. No case but I have a nice Reunion Blues bag that works perfectly. (Sorry, no pics of the S6, but it's just like all the others ).

So, I am now a Seagull fan having never owned any but now have 2.

Very nice addition. I want a cedar at some point. I’m in the camp that really likes the Seagull headstocks.

I like the headstock too. It's practical, proportional, and artistic. What's not to like?

Seagull's sweet spot is with their Cedar tops. Looks like you got a couple of good ones. Cheers!

Congrats!

I've grown to like silk and steel strings on mine for finger style.
