Very nice. Of course a studio recording. Magnetic pickup really adds a nice heft to the sound.

The guy is immense - love al his versions of heavy rock classics too. This one set the bar very high:

Very good. What's not to like? New strings never sounded so good. Since you used the word "performance," I'll add that I'm pretty sure the audio and video were recorded separately (Derek beat me to it!). There might even be an overdub starting around 0:05, but it looks like he's really playing everything, with no trickery. I've watched it twice, and his left thumb is visible for a single brief moment (just the tip of his thumb). Very good playing and arrangement. Congrats to Luca and I hope he doesn't get into trouble when/if management see what he did in the company warehouse.

Of this style very good, just not my "thang" - but there's room for all.

Agreed. I might like some of his other stuff better, but that song should be greasier.

5 of 5 for what he wanted to do. But I would deduct half a point för to long.
It's difficult to keep interest för 4:30 as a soloartist. I try to keep most things under 3 minutes and I sing to. As a rule...the longer are exceptions. Songs used to be under 3 minutes all true the 60's. Folk songs even shorter. You need a band to broaden out songs with intro's and solos and still keep it interesting. This is the most common mistake I see. |

I live Skynyrd country, having seen the best play this song here and having played this a few 100 times myself, I have to say this was a brilliant and well executed rendition. Knowing this song inside out, this artist did not miss a beat with his phrasing, great emphasis, dynamics and percussion well placed. I did not think it was too long or over the top, I found it engaging every step of the way! BRAVO Luca!!

this totally does NOT suck!!
I'm not a huge skynard fan, but I've had to play my share of their "catalog" over the years. The masses ? they LOVE this stuff! and yea.. that was great.. |
