Default Delivery thread

Since so many of us get our guitars from abroad I’m curious as to timeline from say video to delivery? How accurate is ups tracking? Delivery custom woes?

My guitar was on the 30th shipping video. Kevin sent a note it would be here by Friday. That would be the 6th. 7 days. BUT...ups sent a note it will be here 5th by 9 pm. Signed up for ups notification on the phone.

Now the problem. I won’t be here to sign...where does my axe go?

Oh, I live in east coast

That's generally due to the commercial invoice not being attached or incorrectly completed, contact Kev and ask him to chase it up for you.

Generally the unknown is always customs processing, as well as what date its actually collected. Just because a label is created and a tracking number provided, doesn't mean the guitar left (which confuses people some times).

Mine was in the October 23rd video and should be here today. It seems to have followed the same route as yours all the way to Köln.

I wonder why US packages take a detour through Germany. Why can't they go directly from Dublin to the US?

My X7 was about 2 weeks give take after the video (month or 2 ago, now). UPS timing was kinda funny - it took several days to show up in London (after a few days lingering around the factory, I think, or at least nearby). So I figured it would be a pretty long wait from there, but it left London about 3 days before arrival here in Michigan, right on the UPS estimate - which did not get specific until it left London. I was home but I think the driver would have left it by the door. You can change delivery instructions with UPS if you are nervous about that.

Köln aka Cologne Germany is the European hub for UPS Airlines.

UPS, DHL, FedEx, and postal services use hub facilities to sort and aggregate small cargos into jumbo planes, and then fly hub to hub internationally.

I think that we in the US lose (or don't have any) perspective as to the proximity of European countries to each other so the notion of an Irish guitar going to another country (Germany) for shipment to the States seems out of the ordinary. At least that's how I felt when my X30 went to Cologne prior to crossing the pond last June...

Sorry RP but I had to chuckle at the thought of your X30 being sorted onto a jumbo plane! What size plane would be used to ship an Amicus???

GuitarDoc;

In the west. if you're not home, the guitar goes to Kramster. He got my slim-bodied acoustic and it was three more weeks before I got the guitar. Just saying..............

Default I’m seeing a pattern here...

I think the over inflated time gives guys in European customs and shipping abroad to try out our guitars. The American UPS guys don’t play guitar.
