You lucky son of a gun! You may have just given me a dose of serious GAS. Always been a dream guitar of mine but I wouldn't buy a new one and not many second hand ones around. Good luck with it and many happy hours of playing.

Yes, it sure was a lucky day.
Broken in for me, but not broken...
Played a lot, but not overplayed.
1/3 of the price of a new one they don’t seem to sell anyway, and an Anthem pickup to boot!
Did I say it sounds fabulous?
The more modern Gibson 1.72 neck is easier for me to get on with than a skinny 60s Bird I tried. I also tried a 2017 Bird with a broken tuner that was $1200 more, but I preferred the Dove sound...slightly louder, more ‘distinct’, brighter but warm at the same time? Yes, I have been torturing it for couple of days now with all kinds of different tunes......

I have to say I keep looking back at these pictures.

What a nice guitar. I'm so jealous!

Pick on

Congratulations & Enjoy!

I played my first and only Gibson Dove back in 1979. It was owned by a fan who came to see me play and he and his girlfriend invited me over for dinner. Even though I was a Martin & Ovation man at the time, I thought his Dove sounded mighty fine and loved its playability!

Thanks!

I recorded a solo version of the Rolling Stones' "Sweet Virginia" yesterday - the lawn mowers of the area were out in force, so I did a test run of the Dove's Anthem running to my Boss VE8:

Nice looking dove mate....
It sounds great.
Why is it I never see any decent guitars in pawn shops?
My search continues

That's very cool, I have a Dove that I got in trade, it's of the same era.

Very cool guitars.

Well, I was only going to play the Dove for a minute....

But somehow I ended up doing another recording - it has been raining and all the building banging and general screams next door stopped and I pressed the record button to do an acoustic only version of the Rolling Stones' "I've Got The Blues" - one mic in the middle to get guitar and vocal (Neumann KM184).

Super cool. I love the Dove bridge. Blingy Gibsons are cool.
