Here's what I like with this D'Addario gauge.

The cheaper gauges use these block increments which I find inaccurate. In this picture below the 2.0mm, 2.25mm, 2.50mm, 2.75mm blocks are all obscured by the 6E string.

This one is not much better.

With the D'Addario gauge the very bottom of the 2.0mm marker is just visible and the 2.25mm marker is obscured - which is exactly where I like my string height at the 12th fret - 2.25mm.

I’d stake my pension on it that you used a 6” rule, Bruce, and you’re right, those are too narrow to rest on the 11th or 13th fret.

Mine is a 12” number, and it’s wide enough to hit the adjacent frets, so it gives the required stability, and it has imperial and metric scales...

Nice one - the other good thing about the gauge (and your rule) is it has those obscure 14/27ths inches type gobblygook measurements only used by Burma, Liberia and the USA on the other side too.
