Ok its been hot for a while now so Summer is really here and the time is right to play those seasonal favorites. Here is my starter set list....what's yours?

1. Summer In The City/Lovin' Spoonfull
2. Summertime/everyone
3. Hot Fun In the Summer Time/Sly & Family Stone
4. The Summer Wind/Frank
5. Summer Song/Chad & Jerrimy or was it Peter and Gordon?

Oh, yeah I'll be back in the fall to talk about falling leaves and rain....

"The Boys of Summer" -- Don Henley version, not The Ataris (it's a Deadhead sticker, not a Black Flag sticker, hear?)
"Magic" -- The Cars ("Summer turns me upside down, Summer summer summer . . . ")
"Sealed with a Kiss" -- Brian Hyland ("Though we gotta say goodbye for the summer . . . ")

Not all my choices are about summer per se, but to me at least, they evoke the spirit of a summery feeling.

"Summer Breeze" - Seals & Croft
"Dock of the Bay" - Otis Redding
"Margaritaville" - Jimmy Buffett
"Under the Boardwalk" - The Drifters
"Listen to the Music" - Doobie Bros.
"Ramblin' Man" - Allman Bros.

Default and in a dream. . .

"V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N (in the summertime)" by Connie Francis (what a hook!--the song, not Connie Francis)

"Summer Rain" Johnny Rivers (". . .everybody kept on playin' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Baa-a-a-and")

"Suddenly Last Summer" The Motels (I think)

"See You in September" (". . .see yoooou when the summer's through")

And, of course, anything by Donna Summer

So far so good.

Hay FL. Johnny River's "Summer Rain" was the first song I recall that mentioned another song......."Everybody kept on playing Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"........

"Summer of Drugs"--Victoria Williams or Soul Asylum (note: NOT a pro-drug song).
"Old Hayes"--Reilly & Maloney (by Bobby Vee!)
