Default Missed my guitar...

Strange when you come home from a short vacation and the first thing you head for is your guitar

Yeah, especially when you didn't take your wife and kids with you.

Only thing strange is that you didn’t take it with you.

Agreed! My wife always claims we don't have room; somehow it always manages to fit in

It feels a little odd to me when I take my guitar on vacation. But I do. And those times when you have down time and have to wait on things it comes out to play.

Last night, I returned from traveling internationally for two weeks. Usually, I bring my guitar with me, but since we had a larger group of family and friends, I left them behind (the guitars, not the family / friends!).

It was late, and after all day travel, so I only got to tune and play for a few minutes. Hoping for a little more time this evening.

I'm traveling in the UK this week myself, and I missed my guitars so much that I managed to acquire an Atkin guitar to keep me company on my trip home.

Last summer, a 3 day trip to VA Beach left me with the first second and third days missed of playing since I started in 2010. I was so sad to have missed playing three days straight since I hadn't missed a day in nearly 7 years.

I understand.

I hear you!

Several years ago I spent the winter months with my parents at my brother's condo in Florida. Drove down in a Sebring convertible and it was PACKED TO THE GILLS.

I managed to keep my calluses by walking to the guitar shop 3 blocks away. First time I was in there I told the sales guy my situation, and he offered me the store's demo guitar (Epiphone Blueshawk which had a nasty gash in the wood under the finish- Epiphone said they'd ship another one and to do whatever they wanted with the first one, but NOT to sell it).

Showed me where it hung on the end of the counter, told me I could grab it anytime I wanted and play through any amp.

Still, when I got back to Ohio (bump bump bum bum bum And my city was gone) one of the first things I did was visit my babies.

Ha! I do the same thing when I am gone for a few days.

But then again, On trips by car, I always grab my Alvarez Parlor (in gig bag) with me.
