Default Very scary NGD!

Last week I saw what appeared to be a nice boutique guitar on Ebay at a very
nice starting bid.

I researched it, made contact with the seller and made a minimum bid.

Well I won the guitar and it was shipped on the 20th via USPS from northern Wisconsin to me in Buffalo, NY.

Yesterday morning the doorbell rang and when I saw what the mail person had I couldn't believe it.

This is what I was looking at:

700+ miles in a gig bag!

Even more amazing is that there wasn't a mark on the guitar.

Here's what was in the bag.

Sometimes you just get lucky.

Gary

The United States Postal Service (USPS) should be commended for taking care of that mail piece. They obviously could see what it was and they had every opportunity to destroy the contents. That guitar for every step of the way must have been handled by a conscientious USPS employee. Kudos!

Congratulations on your acquisition. Please post the make and model of gig-bag that you received. There are many herein wondering what it is. And what? No mention of the guitar? This wasn't a NCD...

Default Glad it made it to you

Interesting guitar.

Looks like a Maple Advanced Jumbo type build.

Who built it & what do you think of it so far?

My thought is that someone at the postal service realized that it was of value and made sure it was cared for.

The guitar is a Galloup Great Lakes Wolverine model. I cleaned it up adjusted the action and put some new strings on and it sounds great. Very balanced and loud. The neck reminds me of the bourgeois guitars I've had. The fit and finish is superb.

I've never owned a maple guitar and I'm surprised how much I like it.

Congrats! Maple gets a bad rap, but I like it a lot.

Maybe, just maybe, this may be the only way to ship a guitar safely. I have seen double-boxed hard shell cased guitars delivered in far worse condition.

You got very very lucky, mate. I don't know how many stations it passed through but at every station someone took great care not to damage it. Amazing conscientiousness in this day. Gives you hope that there are indeed decent people.

As for the seller-shipper, what the heck was he smoking???

It looks very nice. Let us know who built it, and how it sounds.

Wow, just Wow! I wonder if the shipper bothered with insurance?

But that's a beauty! Play it well!
