Default NGD: Gibson J15 Walnut Burst

Went in thinking I was going to get a J45. But the little bit extra treble on this J15 won me over. I was out of town, so to avoid taxes I ordered it online and let them ship it to me. What a tough wait. Rings like a bell and just sounds like what an acoustic guitar should sound like to me. Works well with my voice. Great for rock flatpicking (what I mostly do) and is a powerhouse strummer. Can’t wait to sit her down on a stage next to the sunburst es335.

The burst is cool because depending on the light it can look like anything from a honeyburst to a walnut burst, to a sunrise burst to a vintage burst.

Congratulations, those J-15s are really great guitars.
Love the burst finish, is this a special run ? I've only seen natural ones over here so far.

a shame that Les Paul isn't a burst as well. A tobacco-burst Les Paul would change your wall into a shrine.

Nice - I like the idea of a guitar made from all North American woods (I had a Martin SWOMGT, same idea). I am also fond of the tones I got from a Go-Guitars Go Grande walnut, so know that walnut B&S can produce some really nice acoustic tones.

For 2018 they’re a standard option. It’s a $200 upcharge though. Thankfully I got this for a deal. Paid $1500 total for a brand new one.

A tobacco burst LP is on the list. Don’t know that I’ll ever get to it. The goldtop P90 LP is a tribute to my dear friend and insanely great blues guitarist Sean Costello.

Very nice! I agree with you that these are the very best flatpickers...very comfy neck profile & short scale for leads...almost like a good Les Paul. That was one of the reasons I bought mine & I thought I would use it as a stage guitar with my classic rock band. Unfortunately I've come to the conclusion that I just don't flat pick on acoustics as much as I thought I would, so mine's up on Reverb right now. They really have their own thing going on tone-wise with the walnut back & sides...very beautiful, vocal midrange, organ-like sustain and lots of punch.

In all the questionable so-called innovations Gibson has made over the past few years, which has evidently gotten them into trouble, THIS guitar stands out as the exception...a world-class, affordable acoustic.

Incidentally, I like the gold-top Les Paul too...just something about that gold paint and the blazing P-90 pups...totally iconic.

Ohhhhh boy! The Gas is strong with this one. I've decided that I am a Gibson man. Well, at least for folk and country! lol

That is SWEET!!!

Very nice. I have a "plain Jane" natural top J-15 and it's a killer guitar.

I'm not so sure I wouldn't end up with a Walnut J15 as opposed to a J45.

They are all nice but those walnut J15 are really nice. They had one a GC by my house. Someone dropped it or it was damanged in shipping. Someone got it for cheap. I thought about it but not quite there yet.

Very nice guitar.

Thanks all!

Still the honeymoon period, but man, I can’t put this guitar down. Just sounds and feels right to me. And even when I do manage to put it down, I stare at it, lol.

I played one today at Sam Ash. I like the burst and this one was loud when you punched it. Probably the most volume from any J15 I've played.
