Default Perhaps the biggest Great White on record

Pretty cool would have loved to have been there and watched the gal swim with it, from behind the camera person

Very cool. I saw a special where researchers went to different locations to see if there were different personalities of the great white depending on their location. Yes there was. They found that their aggressiveness varied between location/ living environment. Interesting.

Funny how the English language works. Leave out one word in the thread subject ("on") and you get this...

...instead of this...

I have been diving with white tip and black tip reef sharks, but people are not normally on their menu (also true for the Great White). This one has been gorging for days on a whale carcass and is too stuffed to move much. Otherwise these swimmers and divers seem to be courting suicide.

I learned to scuba dive in the "Red Triangle" off the Northern California coast, a known breeding ground for Great White sharks. Lots of seals for dinner. I've seen them once or twice from a boat out at the Farallon Islands. A scuba diver is the most noisy, smelly, and awkward thing in the ocean. It is rare to see any shark in open water.

Very cool, thanks Kev for sharing this!

* We have a few Great Whites that enjoy hanging out on the Jacksonville coast where I live. Hilton is a twelve foot male that is seen and tracked here quite a bit. Miss Costa is another, then there is the famous 16 ft Mary Lee who has caused quite a stir in the past swimming in the surf right here in Jax Beach!

** My son is a dive master who has dove world-wide from the Galapagos, Amazon, to the Indian ocean and has dove with sharks; especially whale sharks off the coast of Mexico. His next trip is to S. Africa to dive with Great Whites...he's crazy imo, but hey his nickname is Aquaman! His underwater photography is awesome.

Would love to see some of your sons photos I am really just rank amature/beginner in underwater photography but enjoy the heck out of it.
Humm..... S Africa Home of the breaching Great Whites... I would love to see that, but personally I am definitely a fair weather (read: warm water) diver. I do hope to go on maybe one more shark dive in Fiji to get a shot at possibly seeing some Tigers and Bulls up close

Funny how my brain works, as I read it as that, even with the "on" clearly typed.

I was like "Cool, an 80's hard rock thread," but this is actually cooler.

When I saw these shots I thought the same thing as I did watching the BBC series Blue Planet: Beautiful shots by crazy people!

Slight tangent to the original topic, but I'm still wondering how long it will be before the social justice warriors start complaining about the name "Great White Shark".
Just as with Baa Baa Black Sheep, Golliwogs, Fairy Penguins etc etc getting their names re-purposed because it offends someone.

Yep, very frustrating that everyone has to act as though we are all walking on eggshells
