Default Best Guitar Stores / Shoppes in NY PA and OH?

Hi folks,

In your opinion, what are the "best" guitar stores still operating in New York State, Pennsylvania and Ohio ? One that I know of is Stutzman Guitars in Greece, NY. You never know when the urge for a road trip will arise !

Thanks!

Default Beacon, NY

I really like the guys who run Jake's Main Street in Beacon, NY. They always have something interesting when I stop by and are a welcoming, low-pressure business that enjoys what they do.

Fretted Buffalo and N-Stuff music always seem to have a great collection.

There have been a lot of legendary music stores in the NYC metro area, but these days, the best store in the area is Music Zoo on Long Island;

Vintage Instruments in Philadelphia is LEGENDARY. (And so are their prices.). Anything from prewar martins and Gibson to new custom runs from Martin and Waterloo. And it’s ina historic old mansion right near the historic capital. Must see...

In a little college town called Kent, Oh, which is about 35 miles south southeast of Cleveland, there is a store called Woodsy's that has a high end acoustic guitar room upstairs (you have to ask to see it) in addition to their low end room downstairs which already has a nice collection of Eastman, Fender Paramount series, Yamaha, Taylor, Martin, Cole Clark, and others. They offer in-house full service repairs and setups on just about every instrument imaginable. They stock a wide supply of picks, strings, cables, recording and live sound items. An excellent mom and pop music store.

There's Bernunzio's in Rochester. He started out mail order, mostly banjos, but now has a large store and a ton of guitars and other instruments besides more banjoes than you'll see anywhere else.

I bought my Gibson J-45 from Parkway Music in Saratoga Springs, NY. (It’s just outside the downtown).
Treated me great and a very fair price.

+!

For handmade/"boutique" guitars and jazz guitars, Rudy's soho is not to be missed. Lowdens, Froggys, lots more. They used to have amazing jazz guitars but I recently heard that their inventory changed. Call ahead. I played a flattop D'Aquisto there a few years ago, which I don't think was for sale. Remarkable.

Gordon is the guy I have met there a few times and he is very knowledgeable and easy-going.

Big +1 from me. I had an awesome (and expensive) visit to Rudy's in SoHo many years ago. This shop is top notch.

A must goto in Pittsburgh is Acoustic Music Works. A great inventory of new guitars including Collings, Bourgeois, H & D, Kevin Kopp along with a stellar selection of pre-owned instruments.

Located in the Squirrel Hill area, there are plenty of college-neighborhood stores, shops and restaurants located within walking distance of AMW and make a road-trip worthwhile even for the non-guitar playing public.
