"Thanks Nemoman. I am fond of Brazilian binding on koa."

I bet the reverse looks equally good. Koa binding on Brazilian...

Enough to make me wish I needed another guitar! Ha ha Ha

I talked to Steve yesterday and he was really happy about this!

Mighty nice stuff John

Cheers

Paul

Thanks Paul

You know its possible that your collection is still Taylor heavy. You probably should bring some balance to your guitar stable with another Kinnaird. I could suggest a Brazilian parlor with a cedar top, and koa bindings, short scale, unnaturally loud with a bass that begins somewhere underground and trebles that recall ice water and mountain streams of glacial origin. Something to snuggle up with on the couch while you wait for the Corona virus to pass.
Just a thought

Most excellent marketing verbiage, Sensi!!!

And, I have two Classic Mid 90s Taylors Sold already, and a couple more For Sale now. Which will help balance out my stash, but will not add any JKs to my quiver, sadly.

Meanwhile, I can actually snuggle up on the couch with Our New JUMBO, since it has the Manzer Wedge and the two Big Bevels!!! Unbelievable Comfort and TONE to beat the band I no longer drag around.... hahahaha

I am looking at the photos and just feel at a loss for words. I already know that you have massaged your amazing wood sprite sounds into this artisanal presentation of lovely woods. I can almost feel it vibrating against my chest, having experienced another of your creations, the fabulous baconator! Also, all of Paul’s guitars. For those that don’t recall, this is my second John Kinnaird wood sprite creation, a marvelous paduke( spelling) and spruce cannon! Look at the pictures! ( prior posts). Y’all know that I have a comma challenge. I don’t know if I should say this, not in my self interest, (yah, another comma), if you don’t have one, get one, or two. Or, don’t, leave room for me and Paul.
Thanks John!

Smile The BACONATOR

John's BACONATOR was custom built for Steve.

It is a most excellent instrument as well, but at 000-12c size much more intimate than this Koa Beast. Still it is a LOUD and toneful guitar for sure. And amazingly beautiful as well.

Cheers

Paul

I just saw this post Steve. I appreciate your kind words about the baconator. I liked that guitar very well, and 000 might be my personal favorite size.

I’m glad you like what you see on the big boy.

This guitar will have an adjustable neck with a free floating fingerboard extension. I might be over engineering this thing but that extension needs support and i am, so far at least, trying to keep the wood under the fingerboard extension as thin as possible. I really want to try to keep the traditional flattop vibe going steering away from the arch top or cello look with that part of the neck. Hence Thin lower wood support. To keep things stiff i imbed carbon fiber rods that run into the neck proper and extend out into the extension. To keep those rods as deep as possible i let them stick up proud of that surface and then plow shallow grooves in the fingerboard to fit over the carbon fiber rods. This not only preserves their depth and hence their strength but it also makes it easy to position the fingerboard when it comes time to glue it on.

Default Baconator

Maybe not “elegant”, but serendipitous. It is what happens when two food loving musicians spy something that tickles both obsessions.
Anyway, thanks for the update/instruction John.

Very cool. I love to see luthier innovation in creative, practical ways.

This one should have a really nice tone and full, warm sound.

Default The view from the white room

Tony sent some pics just to whet our appetite of the body with the final coat of sealer/filler.
