This gives me hopes for the future of music..
..because two guys just out of their teens can pull out such great music, excellent playing and soulful voices too. I've been following Bill Strings for quite a while, but Marcus King is a new discovery for me. I'm smiling all time listening to them.

Molly Tuttle is just a year younger than Billy and is an amazing guitarist.

I totally agree with the post, Billy Strings and Marcus King are outstanding musicians as is Molly. These three are some of my favorite youtube diversions, although it hurts my eyes trying to figure out what Billy is doing on his solos.

Billy has been posting a lot of live sets on YouTube lately, some amazing stuff. His shows from Red Rocks and Tipitinas are just incredible, I’ve watched both at least a dozen times each.

Me too. I really hope he will come to the UK soon. Good news for me though, is that he'll likely only play smaller venues here: most venues booking Americana and bluegrass acts usually have 200-500 capacities. I've seen Molly Tuttle in a sold-out 180-seater venue and Sierra Hull in one which holds only 100.

Billy also has a nice studio video of his "enough to leave" and "Guitar Peace"...I gotta admit, I get a little emotional listening to those.

This pickup group is comprised of AJ Lee and Mile Twelve bands and they do a fabulous job on this Bill Monroe number, he would certainly approve. Special praise for the low tenor harmony of AJ and the lead vocal of Evan Murphy. Older more jaded bands might have tighter licks, but the enthusiasm and sheer joy shown on all these young faces, shows Bluegrass to be in very able hands. |
