I especially like the sheet rock screw on the bridge wing. That technique opens up a lot of possibilities for attaching stuff. Necks, straps, position markers, and you can save money by subbing them in for tuners. Revolutionary.

BTW pretty pretty guitar. How do you cut that first channel on the bridge? It looks clean.

Another out-of-sequence shot, but too good to pass up.
Here is Ryan establishing the radius on the sides to accept the top's curvature.
And this is one of the many reasons his job is secure:

So after this step we fitted the top, and as pictured earlier glued it on. That closed the box and set the stage for this step:

And then before you know it, the purflings and bindings are installed:

Those ^ bindings are American Holly, a perfect choice for a guitar of this design, and oh-so-nice to work with!

Thanks,

Steve

I'm glad you decided against putting the rosette-style purfling around the top: it would have distracted from the rosette, which I love. What you've done is perfect.

That was my thinking when I asked Steve to do plain bindings, I'm glad you agree.

Thanks Stan, it's hard to score better than "perfect". So, a good call Trevor!
It all should look even better once we get the tape off, and everything scraped and leveled. Stay tuned,

Steve

Tape is off, and time to level purflings and bindings.
I love a sharp scraper, they make this step rather enjoyable.
Sorry if I look somewhat like a sandwich board:

And here is the fruit of some careful scraping, a finished box:

Thanks again for following along,

Steve

That looks really nice. The appointments are perfectly simple (not to do, but in a design sense) and tasteful. That Holly is really some light colored wood....I have not see that used before and it is really nice.

Thanks Trevor. It is a special shirt, worn only on special occasions. When this one wears out, we'll schedule another trip to Brighton to get a replacement.

Much appreciated, Mike. That word comes to mind as John builds your guitar!

Thanks Tom. It is amazing stuff, looking almost like plastic. Fortunately (well, if you really like wood) there is some quartered fleck just visible at close range. Against the oak (once stained) it really pops.
As a plus, it bends almost without heat.

I love that look. AND there are no holly armrests to contend with. All good.
