The ship came in! Sent out last Friday, the guitar showed up yesterday, Thursday. I was amazed.
The only negative about the fast delivery is that it came the day before Barbara's birthday. I realized when I brought it in the house that this looked bad--her birthday and my gift. I adapted to the situation, handed her the guitar and wished her a happy birthday. This is a win/win since she lets me play with her stuff so I have free access. Life is good. I took Barbara's guitar down to the Tree Bar and several players got to give it a run; their impressions matched mine. The first impression is visual. The guitar is so beautiful that there is a bit a lag time before anyone actually plays the instrument. The visual awe is eventually replaced by play which elicits a second impression--the acoustic sound is incredible for such a thin instrument. The same was true of the X7 thin-bodied electric. Normally, with an electric guitar, the first thing a player wants to do is plug in--with this guitar the players spent a lot of acoustic time before turning on the amp. The third impression is that this is a darned nice electric guitar. It's light, it's balanced, it plays fast and easy, and the sound is sweet. I have yet to spent much time with the instrument, but my first impressions justify the wait time and expense--this is a true collectible. My only problem now will be deciding whether I keep the 7, the 10, or both --this is a hard decision and will take some time. My only complaint is that I miss receiving a manifest that would lay out the date, province, and specifications of the instrument. The manifest would start with general identification (model, custom designation, and serial number. Such a manifest would continue with a list of specifications: scale, string separations, nut width, and so forth. The manifest would also include a picture and a note of congratulation for having a unique and beautiful musical instrument. The manifest would be signed by the creator. A NOTE REGARDING VEGAS JUICE If you give the guy at the door a few bucks you get a better table, and faster service--that's one form of Vegas juice. If you make the right campaign donation you might get a seat at the table where the economic decisions are made--that's Vegas juice. I suspect it has different names, but the concept seems to be universal. Simon also points out that various translations are possible. |

Congrats, Evan! It was quite a wait, and it seems the result is an instrument that is truly unique in every way. This has to be exciting for you, and I join the group here in wishing you many years of joy in playing your new guitar.

Evan... could not be more happy for you. Look forward to your usual analysis in depth when you have time to explore and the honeymoon period is over. Hope it gets the coveted Evan Best in Class award!
Enjoy!!! |

Fixed,
It's a very small class, but the decision will not be easy. Unfortunately the timing is not the best since I am spending a lot of time helping hold on to a sense of community here while also working hard on my victory garden--so much to do and so little time. My plate is full and I am a grateful man. |

Same here. I guess those of us who are not "into the Vegas scene" simply miss out on that whole culture.
However, thanks to those who are "in the know" for helping the rest of us get there too. Tony

Wow... the moment we've been waiting for. The wood under the strings looks almost 3 dimensional. Looks like a fun guitar to play!
Vegas juice... yikes. Got married in Vegas, downtown, 2am. It was a Wild Juice night. Hope things get back to Vegas Normal soon. |
