Martin 12 string guitar, $599, maybe

If it was me Id not buy that Martin. If its a lam neck for sure not but Martins have lots of problems and this one is long scale. More jangle than short scale of course. I would be looking at Taylors because they dont have the probs Martin has and their necks are easy to play. In fact Im thinking the same thing. Id like to get a 12 but not decided on which one.

In this price range I generally like:

Breedlove's Import series.
Alvarez Artist series.
Martin's X series (if you don't mind a Dread)

Not a fan of Taylor's 150. Just sounds horribly chimey and trebley to me. I generally don't want a "chimey" 12, I want a "boomy" 12, like a Guild.

Then try the guild f2512 or f1512. Both are excellent guitars in your price range. I agree with you on the 150e.
