Smile NGD - Martin 00-15m

I decided to go off the deep end, and got rid of my 2 Taylors I had (the 214k c/e and GS Mini-e koa) and wanted either a Martin 00-15 or the 000 Martin Streetmaster. I decided I just was not plugging them in, and while sounded good acoustically, I wanted something that was totally acoustical. The long story short is the dealer I went to where I live told me he had just gotten the 00-15 m in, so I went in, did a trade towards the 00-15 and walked out with a wonderful all solid wood mahogany guitar.

When I was trying it out, the thing in the back of my mind was, does this live up to the hype I have scene on this forum about it, as well as hype I'd scene elsewhere? The answer was a resounding yes. The bass response was wonderful, the treble and mid range wonderful. I did some fingerpicking on it and fell in love with the sound. Tried the Maybelle Carter scratch on it, it sounded wonderful. Did basic rhythm, back-up guitar on it, great. This is truly a wonderful guitar that seems to eat up what is thrown on it playing wise. I don't know if it is the workmanship or the all mahogany body or what it is - it just is. Honestly, this guitar is a keeper, and between it and my dreadnought junior, I am happy with it. Unless somehow or another I win a guitar in a drawing or whatever, I am done GAS'ing. Now if I could be done with UAS'ing I'd be happy

Fantastic!

I think that 00 size guitars in mahogany are wonderful instruments. So it's string experiment time for you now. Don't forget to put Martin monel strings on the list of types to try.

Congrats! I'm sure that's fantastic instrument. If I had seen one of those in the wild, it might have beat out my current guitar. Love to see pics if you get the chance...

If I can get around to, I'll post a side by side of the 2 Martins. Swamped to the gills with housework and laundry on this cool Saturday, so may not get around to it until tomorrow.

Thumbs up

Congrats! Great choice but know that I’m bias. I got my 00-15M new in December 2019 and currently it’s the guitar I play with most of the time. Did you noticed it has a sweet scent to it also? Enjoy playing and bonding with your guitar!

Currently, I have D’Addario Nickel Bronze (NB) 12-53 on it. I tried the wrong guage of Monels 11-52 earlier and I think NB is a tat brighter and I like it.

Congrats! I've owned a 00-15m custom for 7-8 years. A great guitar.
