2009 Martin D-21 Special SOLD
For sale - '09 Martin D-21 Special. Second owner, purchased from original owner here on AGF. Sitka top with vintage toner, EIR back and sides, forward-shifted X-scalloped bracing, ebony pyramid bridge, ebony fingerboard, 1-3/4 low profile neck, bone nut, compensated 16" radius bone saddle, open Gotoh tuners, rosewood binding.
In VG+ to Exc condition, only a few pick marks and swirls. OHSC and LR Bagg Lyric pickup included. Action is setup at a medium/low with medium strings, and not a whole lot of fret wear. Beautiful tone. Was described to me as if an HD-28V and a D-18 had a kid. Warm, smokey, classic Martin rosewood, without being muddy. Overtone for days. Absolutely love the sound, but I can't get used to the neck, which is a 1-3/4" Low Profile - a pretty popular shape/size combo for a lot of folks on AGF, but just not for me. SOLD shipped to CONUS. Feel free to contact if you have questions. Last edited by ahp; 10-05-2020 at 08:43 PM. |

Fantastic guitar, I would be a buyer if i did not have one in my lap right now. It has kicked many higher end guitars out of the collection.

Another big fan of this era (2008-2012) D-21 Special, and I'm not someone who usually likes Indian rosewood guitars. Great specs and features, great sound.
Not sure if it has anything to do with the pyramid bridge or not, but it has a nice, clear, balanced tone across all six strings - bass, mid-range, and treble - it is all there. Good with a flatpick, but I really like it played bare fingered. Best of luck with the sale. This one looks to be in very good condition.

Thanks, MCDEMO1. She really does have a great sound. When Scott Nygaard reviewed it he said the D-21 was perfect for lyrical players wanting buttery tones and lush sustain. Pretty much nailed it. I’ll have to dig up his old review.

I had a D-21 way too briefly a couple of years ago. One of the many I wish I'd been smart enough to hold onto. Good luck with your sale of this beauty!
