Iris DF Smeck FS/FT
SOLD****
Up for grabs is a beautiful Iris DF Smeck. I’ve had this guitar for about a year, bought it off the forum. It’s wonderful, boomy, crispy, and plays like you’d expect. I’ve recorded several songs with this guitar and while I love it, I’ve had a hard time taming it with my set up for my particular sound under recording conditions. I’ve written several songs with it and have moderately mixed feelings about getting rid of it so I’ll likely be fairly firm on price and somewhat picky with trade offers, but interests are below. It’s the 1 3/4” nut. The original case is great, but it seems a previous owner struggled at times to get it seated in the case so the bass side padding has turned down some, it was like that when I got it. Doesn’t impede or harm the guitar any. Some play wear on the pick guard and above the low E string. Nothing that goes through the finish and it could probably be buffed out. Doesn’t really show in the pictures and frankly I kind of like it. The neck has worn glossy from play on 2/3 of the back surface so it’s really nice and smooth. Frets are in great shapes Like I’ve noticed with other folks I can’t get the app to notify me of messages. I check frequently but if we get into a discussion I usually request move to either FB messenger or text so I don’t miss messages. I’ve traded several guitars on here. A Bourgeois Martin Simpson (loved it!) and sold my Martin Sinker Hog (the one that got away)… No pickup and no strap button on heel. Straight sale: $2000 shipped. Trade value: $2300 each cover own shipping. Trade interests: Martin 000/0000, M36, Dreads, potentially a CEO 7. McPherson Sable. Love player grade vintage guitars that don’t need attention to sound and play great but may be insecure about their aesthetics. I also have other gear I would be willing to throw in (pedals, parts casters, etc.) for a sinker mahogany Martin. I’d love to have mine back, but I think it’s changed hands a couple times since 2021. It was a 2019, Sitka top, natural finish originally bought from Willcutt Guitars here in Lexington and had all the case candy. But I’m open to the 000/0000 shades sinkers as well. P.S. - security guard in photo not included. IMG_4207.jpgIMG_4209.jpgIMG_4208.jpgIMG_4212.jpgIMG_4211.jpgIMG_4213.jpgIMG_4210.jpg Last edited by accraw3; 04-16-2024 at 10:39 AM. Reason: Sold |

Tight case
I have an Iris DF Smeck that sounds great and is a keeper for me. Bought it used here on AGF. I have the same problem with the TLK case. It's a tight fit and it is pushing down the interior padding at the widest part of the lower bout. I am concerned that eventually the side of the guitar could come into contact with the padding adhesive. Also, this case is a step above the usual TLK Iris guitars come with in that it has an arched top. So now I am researching a case that will fit better.

Hi, is the bridge spacing 2-7/32” or 2 5/16” on this?

Also measured the neck at the first fret. It’s 0.85”. I didn’t realize there was so much variance in these.
