Default Fretboard major cleaning

Recently bought a great sounding but well played dreadnought. The fingerboard is the filthiest I've ever seen. Looks like played many times immediately after eating a plate of ribs without a table napkin. Mild soap won't touch it. I'm thinking it will need a scraping with a sharp razor blade to remove all the gunk. Any ideas?

some luthiers use a fresh utility knife blade, held perpendicular to the fret board and dragged longitudinally between the frets (using it as a scraper). There's a technique involved, but it can produce quite a smooth surface. Alternatively, a grey scotchbrite pad with some mineral oil might be a safer bet. You could start with some naptha first if it's too crusty.

0000 steel wool used in line with the frets has always worked for me.

For real bad ones the way you describe it I use a razor blade as a scraper followed by fine steel wool.

Came across this clip recently which I thought was very good.
I use the same Music Nomad F-One fretboard oil.

Tried naphtha followed by razor blade scraping and fine steel wool. Fretboard looks new! Thanks for all the good advice.
