Resonator Players Doing Interesting Things
Maybe a different idea here...
Do you play a resonator? Is it interesting? Post videos below. Charlie Parr playing "Delia" I make resonators so videos I'll post will mainly be from some great musicians I've encountered through my work. But all resos are welcome of course! I just really love 'em, and there's so much cool stuff being played on these unique acoustic instruments. I thought if we put them all in one spot it might be a cool thing for people to peruse. Yes, I use resonators in my music.
I own four, all of them cheap chinese copies, but one advantage of resos is their capacity to become decent through easy hacking. I came to resonators because the necks are large, and I was willing ti try anything with large necks at the time. And I discovered a whole new world of sound. Here are some tunes of mine on resonators: My first reso, a brass tricone : The second reso, a steel biscuit cone : The third reso, a wood spider cone (this is the problem with resos : you try one type, you end up wanting ALL of them...): And the fourth one, a wood biscuit cone: I remember when you began producing resos, I was really tempted... Unfortunately, I'm now retired and don't have the means anymore. Congrats for your outstanding work. (and BTW thanks for choosing to show Charlie Parr) |

I don't have vids because most of what I do is film and video soundtracks and work other people's albums, but here are a couple of reso clips from a rustic score for a series about the Underground Railroad:
WADE IN THE WATER LET US BREAK BREAD TOGETHER ON OUR KNEES SWING LOW SWEET CHARIOT Gretsch brass body reso with spider cone Bob

Oh man... that first tune on that tricone you played. I totally love it. I listened to it three times in a row. Really smooth thumb too! |

Here’s my buddy Joey Landreth at the shop. He’s such a good guy. Very kind and humble, and super fun. And a brilliant player of course. Check out all his videos he did for Carter Vintage on YouTube if you haven’t.

Jpbat, have you heard of Freddy Koella? He plays a reso sometimes. I think you’d really like his stuff

Love this song. Love this acoustic cover. Love this funky oddball acoustic instrument variant.
The resonator in here is really cool.

How to embed a YouTube video
All - here’s a quick tutorial on how to embed a video from YouTube:https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...bbcode#youtube
Note that the big red arrow on the editing panel will drop in the appropriate [YOUTUBE] html code.

Update - AGF app and video
So the AGF app will embed pictures, but not video. Using the app creates a URL link, which works, but doesn’t show the preview pic\video frame.
Personally, I like the video frame and preview pic, but it looks like it has to be done through a browser connection. Best, Rick
