Here are the used Martin guitars between 500 and 750from GC;

Do your homework, figure out what you like, try to find one close to where you live and go try it. The Martin Custom D is a highly regarded guitar in it's price class. I like 1 3/4 nut and it is 1 11/16, so I wouldn't choose it, but it's a good guitar. Do you want a dread or something smaller? It's really all up to you.

Your heart may be set on Martin and that’s cool but you might checkout Eastman in that price range. You’d get more guitar for the money.

I think if you have your heart set on a Martin you would not want to buy an Eastman just as if you have your heart set on an Eastman you might not want to buy a Martin.

If your looking for the best in the standard range the 15 series is going to be the one in that price range. Otherwise per the above you might as well be looking at others.

Not sure if you saw my recent thread but I got a new returned Martin special D for $750 at musicians friend. I had to pay tax but it was 800 shipped. Keep an eye out for level 1 or 2 returns. It turned out real nice. Seems mint to me and was a level 2... I love it.

you get more for your money with other brands but many people feel they have to have the name so its how you feel about it. I cant play long scale and all of the Martins in your price range are long scale. Why make playing guitar any harder than it needs to be?

Though I call AGF my home, you should check out the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum if you have not already!
