I guess the '57 Classics in the Satin just don't measure up to the MHS II things in the new dot. Was toying with the idea of a 335 Studio but I'm glad I sprung for the more upscale unit.

Still trying to get used to the weight of electrics after spending the last four years playing acoustic. I always play sitting down, acoustic or electric, so the extra weight of the electrics is manageable but noticeable.

Gotta kool it with the GAS, now!
Sounds like you have a keeper. I'm not familiar with the MHS II pickups? Are they new Gibson pickups?

This is taken from a post on the gear page, 2-21-17:

"My understanding is Burst buckers in the 1,2, and 3 versions are machine wound, uneven coil and either potted or unpotted.

MHS are alnico II neck and alnico III bridge, manually scatterwound, uneven coil, and unpotted, and are for that reason more of a PAF style pickup in construction, that Gibson probably considers more of an "historic spec"."

Seems like the MHS IIs were introduced about 2016.

I like their clean tones so much that I've yet to mess around with overdrive or other effects.

I believe I have the IIs in my '18 339 and agree that the cleans are great.

I thought I read somewhere about the 335 having 550k pots, which would further brighten the output. I haven't checked my 339 to see the pot value, but I will next time I have the mirror out.

Actually, another one I've seen that rocks the black finish is the Joe Bonamassa Signature Epiphone 335, about which I've read very good things regarding pickups, set-up, etc.

I mean, I need another guitar like I need an extra hole in myself, but still kinda gassing for that one.

Not to hijack the thread...again, contrats on a nice 335; they look great in black...who knew?

Great guitar and I’m glad you’re so pleased with it! 335s are awesome guitars!

I've got some researching to do. Thanks for that info ... and enjoy your Gibson!

Oh, this is so cool for you!

Of all the electric guitars I own -- an American Strat plus, a Tele, a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Rick 330-12 -- I love my Gibson ES-335 best. It was the first electric guitar I ever bought and still my favorite.

You will love this guitar I think!
