All strings continue to stretch out under tension, until they reach the limits of their elasticity, so expect to tune a guitar every day. Strings that have reached the limits of their elasticity are sonically dead (or flat) and give a lifeless tonal response. They tend to stay in "tune" but aren't worth playing because their sound is uninspiring (and probably the cause of GAS in inexperienced players who don't recognize dead strings).
I'm always tuning my strings (steel) because I change them 2-3 weeks after renewed, which is when the trebles lose their brilliance. I leave them on my classical until the wound G string (GHS Set 2510) suffers from wear against a fret wire. Because I play the classical more than the steel string the G string wear becomes unacceptable in about 5-6 weeks. I would recommend a new set of strings on your older guitar immediately and monitor how well it stays in tune. I think you will find it and your new Gibson to be close in tuning stability. |

Guitars can be strange things.
My Epiphone EJ-200 with laminated back & sides and Grover Rotomatic tuners is staying in tune longer with DR Sunbeams round core strings than my solid wood Martin JDP II with Waverly tuners and Ernie Ball Al Bronze hex core strings! Go figure!

... and I no longer use the 'one over then under' stringing method.
You can see the DR's here on my Epiphone - in, under, under, bring it up to tension then snip off the excess.

Said method has worked just fine for me for over 40 years. Who the heck is this Taylor fellow anyway?

A lot of things contribute to a guitar having difficulty staying in or holding tune...
If it's a "new" Gibson and you haven't had a professional set-up done to it, I would suggest you do that (this is IF you like the guitar - if you don't, then get rid of it! But all this still applies, to ANY guitar... Clean up the slots in the nut; do as Wade suggested and adjust the "clutch" screws on the tuners (not too tight, but firm), CHANGE YOUR STRINGS, especially if these are still what the guitar came with... Tuning a guitar is just part of the deal... as some have indicated, there is NO guitar on this green earth that stays in tune always... not to my ears, and not after playing acoustic guitar for nearly 60 years... Reminds me of that old joke, said when having to tune within the same set at a performance: "I don't understand this... it was in tune when I bought it!"

old 'humor'
A banjo player once posed a rhetorical question: How long does it take to tune a banjo? Nobody knows.

As others have said, you're fine.
Now, if you have to tune DURING a song, then you can start worrying.

The only way a guitar could “stay in tune” for hours or days is if you didn’t check the tuning with an accurate tuner. So don’t worry about your guitar, it isn’t problematic. It shouldn’t stay in tune when playing it, it just doesn’t work that way in the real world. Sorry if you’ve been lead to think otherwise.
