I really hate when people say "EIR" instead of East Indian Rosewood. Lazy bums.

Please don't tell me some people say "Mac" instead of Macassar. Although if your guitar had Macassar ebony back and sides and a Jack pine top, you would have a mac and jack guitar!

I used to have all kinds of little pet peeves with regard to the way people spoke or spelled, using poor grammar or shortened words but then I realized I was really just being a pretentious toolbag and let it go. Life's too short and there's too many real problems in the world.

However, calling Adirondack spruce "adi" doesn't have the same effect, so maybe it's because of all the negative connotations associated with hogs and pigs. Mahogany is such a nice wood it deserves better than to have porcine associations imposed on it.

If someone asked me to build a "hog" guitar for them, I would ask "Berkshire or Vietnamese pot belly?"

Maybe if mahogany smelled like bacon.....
Yes. Felt the same way too that hog brings to mind pigs. But didn’t think too much of it. Worse part is that I am now using it too as it is easier to type and spell. Haha...

Let me try to understand. On a forum that is constantly full of acronyms, abbreviations, slang, etc, one little word drives you bonkers?

I would bet that any kind of forum has the same things going on.

Almost any interest or discipline is bound to develop it's own shorthand.
It's just the way it is.

And while we're at it--When looking at the grades given for wood components listed for a particular guitar, how many AAAAAA's-- Masterwhatever ---can you put in? Is there a universal standard?

For those who have a hog guitar with a pickup, oh sorry, with a pup in it, do you have to plug it into a Pignose amp?

Check out my Rick with a plexi TRC, CB, VP, CP FWI, BT/BH, and HSPU, in MID.

There is, at least, one AGF (another acronym, OMG!) member (besides me) who does, in fact, know what all that means.
