Default Silver Anniversary Ideas ?

There are some cool silver jewelry boxes on ebay, would rather see them in person.

I don't know how much silver Zales and Kays might handle actually in stock.

Let's put the budget between $400 / $1000.

What ya got ?

On our 25th anniversary a few years back, my wife bought me a real expensive watch (I'm embarrassed to state the brand). She wanted to get me something special. Now, I've never been a nice watch guy - I do a lot of wrenching on motors, home improvement, yard work, etc. I work in a heavy industrial environment. A nice watch on me is just not going to stay nice. Meanwhile...my wife and I both love the outdoors and camping. We had been looking to get a nice condition used/vintage Airstream to fix up. As it happened, a very good condition Airstream, 25' long, built the year we were married became available for just a little more than the price of the fancy watch. We returned the watch and bought the Airstream and have been having great fun with it ever since!

Whatever you do, stay away from Zales, Kay and Jared. They are all the same company, and they do not have good prices. You are better off with JTV, or even QVC online. And remember- everything in a jewelry store is negotiable.

I agree: stay away from the big little box stores. You don't want her shopping at Wal Mart or Guitar Center, do you?

For 25 years I'd be looking for something with history behind it, be it antique or hand made. Having gifted my wife with jewels and jewelry boxes in the past though, I can tell you that it's more about the thought behind the gift rather than the price tag. If anything, when it comes to price it's sort of double jeopardy; you don't want to spend too little, nor do you want to spend too much. Better to put thought into it and go for something that ties into her interests and/or fits her favorite theme, style, etc.

As an artist, check out art shows near you. Nothing better than supporting local artists. ETSY is great, eBay (freebay) not so much. Handmade silver boxes can and should be expensive. I've made several, they're a tough sell when there's so many hours handwork involved.

Find her something nice and you'd be proud to give, doesn't have to be pricey. Or just give that local artist your CC, they'll make sure you get something nice.

Back to the studio, it's art show season.

I would go to an antique store. You'd be likely to find something unique.

For our 25th, I wanted to get my wife a multi-diamond wedding band, I talked to her, she glowed, We went to a local mom&pop store, shopped and talked to the jeweler, spent just a little over your budget, but you wouldn’t need to. We’re still very happy with that move. When you get to ‘50’, you need more planning

M wife and I are creeping up on 25 years of marriage. I have talked with her, and she says she doesn't want any silver: most of her jewelry is gold, so she doesn't want silver jewelry, and we couldn't identify any other objects that she might like to recieve (like a box or a letter opener or a picture frame or a pen or a dish, Eric, etc).

Looks like we might take a nice trip somewhere instead.

We got married October 7, 1978. 40 years! I think we went to Skyline for dinner.

You should each pick something nice for yourselves and you both will be very happy. A guitar for you would be appropriate.
