Then I will clarify . Terry Kreider made my one flute from cedar that I harvested in trade for some of my wood . I did not purchase that one . My other flute was purchased at a real tourist trap that is some kind of tower near the south rim of the Canyon.
I have no doubt as to the maker to be a local Native . It carries the name Duck on it .

I would love to be 4 hours away from High Spirits.....I'm in Northern Michigan!

Seriously though, Odell Borg has a lot of videos on his site (highspirits.com) that you may want to take a look at......showing the various flutes, instruction, etc. With the purchase of each flute, you also get an instruction book and a CD, which is very helpful. My sister bought a NAF that looked more authentic from a market in AZ, but doesn't play it because the intonation is off. The HS flutes are spot on.

Like guitars different makers produce instruments with different tonal characteristics.

I currently play a few by Hawk Littlejohn, deceased, who is regarded as one of the best modern traditional makers. His flutes often have a somewhat beautifully airy or breathy tone. I met Hawk and his wife, Geri, decades ago. They are both very spiritual, beautiful people and dedicated to the craft. Geri helped voice and finish the flutes back then and still carries on the tradition today making flutes.

Also Brent Haines is considered one of the top makers today. His flutes are often very clear and articulate, and his best are used by several recording artists. I’ve owned a few of his and they were all excellent.

That is the one I have. Seeing the name reminded me, and looking at the images confirms.

I can also recommend Charles Littleleaf flutes. He and his wife visited our flute circle in Anchorage a number of years ago, gave a workshop, and then did a lovely concert. He sold several of his flutes to our members. www.nativeamericanfluteshop.com

Geri at Wicozaniflutes seems really cool. I read her bio on her website...super resonated with me.

If this isn't true awesomeness I don't know what is:

I spent over half an hour on the phone with Geri Littlejohn from Wicozani Flutes yesterday. She listens to what you want, at a deeper level. She played several flutes for me. She discussed different woods. If you are spiritual, meditate, walk a path with inner peace, I think you will really enjoy her.
