Rumor has it that final sanding and buffing should wrap up this weekend.

The rumor was semi correct....

My Robinson GA 12 Fret, Adi over Wavy Hog, is in my possession. However, it will go back in a couple weeks for one more buffing and tweaking of the set up.
Jake knows I have been chopping at the bit so he let me pick it up this evening.

The tone is wonderful, unlike anything I have owned. It is kind of vintage, warm and woody, with a hint of modern voicing, not too much on the overtones...if that makes sense. Well balanced across all 6 strings...and loud!

The Adi top and bracing has just realized it is no longer a tree and is now learning how to be a guitar... so it is a little tight sounding.

The particulars...
Adirondack Spruce top and Bracing
Amboyna Burl Rosette
Wavy Mahogany Back and Sides
Brazilian Rosewood Binding
Solid Mahogany Neck
Bone Nut and Saddle
Brazilian Rosewood pegged overlay
Brazilian Rosewood Fret Board
Brazilian Rosewood Bridge
Burl Walnut (from our personal inventory) back of peg head and heel cap
12 Frets to the body
20 frets total
Brazilian Rosewood Bridge Plate
Snake wood Bridge Pins
Waverly Open Gear Tuners w/ Snake Wood Buttons
Snake Wood Strap Buttons
Body length 20”
Upper Bout 10.25”
Waist 8.5”
Lower Bout 15.25”
Body Depth Neck/End 3.75”/ 4.75”
Scale Length 25.5”
Nut Width 1.75”
String Spacing 2.25”
Hoffee Carbon Fiber Case

Here are some iPhone photos. I will have some nice photos in the future and will post them then.

I cannot figure out how to get the photos to show up in the proper orientation....Sorry.

Two weeks into playing my Robinson and she is coming alive! Even my old ears can hear a change in its tone, not nearly as tight as the day I brought it home.
It does not sound as vintage or woody as day one, it is leaning more to a modern tone. Very well balanced and loud. I am sure it will continue to mature the more it gets played.

The body vibrates my chest regardless how gently I strum it or pick an individual string, the sustain is forever and overtones are present but not overwhelming, the string to string separation is distinct. This is the first guitar I have owned that I can feel the vibration in the neck/fretting hand.

For fun I weighed it... Whoa, its a hefty 3.6 pounds.

It will go back to Jake on Tuesday Nov 27th for a couple days so he can Tweak the set up and do a final buffing.

It is currently strung with Martin Lifespan MSP7200 Medium PB strings. I am going to try GHS LJ30L Signature Bronze Light next.
