Thanks all for the nice comments! The Santos is off the plate, due to potential color clashes with the Myrtle.

Meanwhile, back at the bench:

Bridge of the same “Mystery Mesquite”. Looks pretty to me!

Play on gang!!!

I thought you were voting Santos RW, Tom.

But a Big shout out to Tom Bowersox just because he’s a fine fellow! Not to mention the host of the grooviest Guitar confab ever…

Go B.I.G.

Hahahaha

Naw, I was referring to my Mesquite Tx build going on and JK was involved with supplying some of the Mesquite to SK. I was thinking those exchanges put the Mesquite in his brain, when was the last time anyone heard of a mesquite fretboard or neck? This is going to be another masterpiece from NC.

Sending this to John, and figured it would (hopefully) add even more TMI…. Hahah

Slim Neck Carve similar to John Kinnaird custom number 148

#148 (Mitchell Maple Monster) neck:

Nut: 1:77”. (Slightly less than 148)

Saddle spacing 2.25” or so.

25” scale. (Short)

Very little difference in neck depth up the frets.

Depth at first fret. Treble side .84”. Bass side .86”

Circumference at first fret 4.52”

Odd how my Harbor Freight calipers got different measurements from opposite sides of the neck…. Maybe split the difference?

Depth at ninth fret. T.88/.90”B

Circumference at ninth fret. 5”

Soft V with asymmetrical carve.

Apex of back of neck offset towards bass strings a bit

Carve extends through the neck bindings

“Rolled” fretboard edges roll back into the neck carve.

Very similar to the Big Braz Gun, but less depth taper, and less meat on upper shoulder.

I believe the entire neck is a bit less beefy than the BBGun.

I measured every dimension THREE times

Thanks John

Carve away!

Folks, if you are on the fence about Tom and Kathy”s #3 B.I.G. Confab??? Go and thank me later…. Hahaha

Cheers

Good golly Paul that’s a LOT of detail bro…My hat is off to John for being willing to dial in all these details. But hey, ya know what you like and obviously John delivers on your dreams. This should be just an awesome guitar…very pretty and I’m sure will excel in the tonal arena where Johns guitars shine

I am very fortunate to have Mr. K willing to keep crafting the necks of my dreams! Haha.

And the ergonomic and tonal features too.

Funny, how the neck on our shared #99 started it all…. I sent it back to John so he could copy his own carve with minor tweaks!

And, yes, the TONE AND VOLUME of all of John’s guitars just knock me out!

Hope you really enjoy your new ones!!!

Cheers

Paul

Yes, it is with Tony, I guess he is backed up a little bit for a while. We have added a little edge burst to the job so am anxious to see that.

Thanks for the shout out on B.I.G. 3. I have to say I agree with you!!!!

Looks LOVELY to me. Spectacular figure in all the woods. Plenty of silking in the WRC top, too

Nicely done gents

I am super pleased
