I have a RS620 and a 502T. Both incredible instruments. Excellent wraparound bridge on the 620. Every little subtle turn of a knob -- volume or tone -- leads to audible changes in your sound. I had a 320. If you get one, be sure to go with a 500 or higher. The larger frets are nice.

I have an LLX6A and two LLX16's. The 26 is much better. That's not to say the 6 and 16 are bad, but the 26 is better. By far. I'd put the 6s at the mid level of middle level instruments and the 16 at the lower end of pro level. The 26 is the pinnacle of a pro level instrument.

My oldest guitar is a 1984 LL15. It survived when many other acoustics were sold. There's just something about Japanese craftsmanship that screams integrity. Because of my Yamaha I wanted to try other acoustics crafted in Japan and that led me to Alvarez Yairi last year. I bought four since then and haven't touched my electric guitars since.

I need to step away from this place. I am so close to ordering a FGX5 that it is not even funny. I almost have to have one.

Um , it’s terrible. Poorly built. Sounds like wet blankets. Smells like a dog’s rear end… Sorry, I can’t keep lying. They’re really good. Except for the ugly loud scratchy pick guard.

I would have sold you mine. I found a D-18 that took my money and I needed to let the Yamaha go to appease the wife. The Yamaha amplified better.

Which takes only 15 minutes to remove the faux wood sticker and leave a classy black pick guard.

The 18 series and 15 series are the only Martins I actually like. The D-35 is pretty cool too.

Yamaha, on the other hand, has become one of my all time favorite brands. I have always liked their vintage stuff, and now I am itching for a new red label.

I am having a bit of trouble deciding on the FGX5 or the FSX5. I’m not buying both. I will also be moving something out to bring the Yamaha in.

I sold a 2013 D18 and replaced it with a FSX5 within a few days. Different animals for sure, but the FSX5 gets way more playing time than the D18 ever did.

I bought the FSX5 used but if I were buying new I would have gone with the FS5. I don't plug in often enough to need all that junk.

I don't know how you make noise on a pick guard. I never hear anything from my FS5. I left it alone. Maybe I am deaf.

Considered taking the entire pick guard off as I usually prefer nothing at all but don't know if it'll have a tan line underneath.

For me the noise was because of resting my pinky on the pick guard when fingerpicking, the stock pick guard amplified any slight hand and pinky movements. A replacement guard solved that (although I later removed that and go without a pickguard). It’s probably a non-issue for flatpickers or anyone who doesn’t rest part of their picking hand on the guard.

I suppose a quick fix would be a 1” piece of clear tape.

If you removed the entire pick guard I’d be curious if theres tan lines on the F series. Any pics?

I do plug in, but am also torn between the X or not…I understand these models sound very good plugged in, but I despise extra holes in the body and being stuck with a certain system. I am thinking about the FS5 or FG5 and adding a K&K.
