Default 2013 Guild GSR M85II Bass Guitar - SOLD

Perhaps a little OT here, but it is still a semi-acoustic guitar!

This is a rare bird, and one of only 12 or so that was ever made before Fender pulled the plug on the New Hartford Custom Shop in 2014. It has one of the nicest finishes I've ever seen on any guitar, and is a featherweight at 6.2 pounds. The GSR M-85 II features a fully hollow body with a laminated mahogany arched top supported with parallel tone bar bracing and bound with 4-ply black and white binding. The back and sides are mahogany and the three-piece mahogany/maple neck is topped with rosewood and finished off with mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The electronics offer a low end roll-off via a two-way mini toggle, and other features include a combo bridge/tailpiece with rosewood saddles, Gotoh tuners, a vintage-style “Chesterfield” inlay, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish in Cherry Red.

About the only flaw I can find is a crack in the headstock veneer that runs parallel to the nut between the two rows of tuners. You can just barely see it on the left in the photo (rest is a reflection), so it's not much of an issue.

Serial number dates it to late 2013.

Included is the original hard shell case.

Product specifications:
  • semi-acoustic short-scale bass guitar
  • series: GSR (Guild Special Run)
  • colour: Cherry Red
  • finish: nitrocellulose lacquer
  • top: laminated spruce, arched
  • bracing: parallel tone bars
  • sides/back: mahogany
  • body depth: 50.8 mm (2 inches)
  • body length: 438 mm (17.25 inches)
  • body width 336 mm (13.25 inches)
  • neck: 3-part mahogany/maple/mahogany
  • fretboard: rosewood with mother-of-pearl position markers
  • fretboard radius: 9.5 inches (241 mm)
  • frets: 21, vintage-style
  • nut width: 1.5 inches (38.1 mm), bone
  • scale length: 30.75 inches (781 mm)
  • bridge: Guild Combo bridge tailpiece with rosewood saddles
  • tuners: Gotoh, vintage style
  • hardware: nickel-plated
  • pickups: 2x Guild Bi-Sonic Bass
  • electronics: 2x volume, 2x tone, 3-way pickup switch, 2-way low-end roll-off switch
  • included: TKL hardshell case

Details:
  • 2 bi-sonic single-coil pickups with individually adjustable poles
  • volume and tone control per pickup
  • classic Chesterfield-style inlay on the headstock
  • 2-way mini switch for filtering out low frequencies
  • multiple layers of body bindings (white/black/white/black)

Pricing a bass that's this rare is hard, because there's very little to go on, but I do know that the original MAP was $3800. So the new price is $SOLD. I'm pretty firm on that, and would much prefer checks and money orders at this price, or add 3% for PayPal. I bought a set of Hipshot Ultralite tuners to address the minor neck dive issue that a bass this light with a big headstock is going to have, and can include them in the sale for an additional $75 if you're interested. Will discount for checks and Postal Money Orders, which are always preferred. Shipping will be by insured FedEx Ground to the 50 states. Contact me for a quote.

Thanks Ken! Can't believe this hasn't sold yet, so let's give it a Tuesday night bump. Folks, this is one of only six or seven that didn't have headstock breaks, and it's in as-new condition. Less than half the original MAP, too.
