Being a native, I think this sort of thing is pretty cool

tons of people doing that. bowling alleys, restaurants, office buildings, rivers and swamps--anything with old wood in it. guess we all better be looking that way as it gets more difficult for manufacturers to find wood. recycle!!

play music!

Looks great in the photo and with a maple body, it's going to be a very bright sound guitar would be my guess.

I read that earlier today. Great way to salvage some wood.

Well back in the the late 60's and early 70's when FM was new it could be as long as Ina -Gadda-Da-Vida 17 + minutes, but now days with societal ADD it has to be 3:00 or less

Salvaged wood from old buildings seems to be a thing among people who roll their own - and some small guitar builders.

I recall PRS had a series of guitars that use salvaged tropical woods. There was a magazine review PRS that had a nail hole in it.

I recall reading a few years ago that the Fender Custom Shop was building Teles from old wooden bridges and barns.

Didn't Taylor make an oak guitar from pallets?

IIRC Paul Reed Smith made an electric guitar whose maple top came from a dresser drawer front, with a distinctive knothole in it, for Alex Lifeson of Rush. At one point in time Carlos Santana had his hands on it and wanted to keep it until PRS promised to make him another one.

But if that guitar is made from wood at a Chevrolet factory its bound to leak oil somehow?! Just speaking from experience...
