Default Have you ever traded guitars with someone on AGF?

If so..how did it go? Was it temporary or permanent?

Worked out great.

Yes, as long as you do your due diligence and are sure you trust the person you are dealing with, it should be fine. My trade was great and the guitar(s) that we traded were exactly as described to each other and I think we were both happy with the trade.

Worked well for me - communicate often and well - be honest and you should be good!

I have 30-40 times over the last 14 years or so. Lots of fun!! I feel like a kid trading baseball cards but high dollar large box, shipping across the US baseball cards!

With the 1099k changes for 2022, I've found myself mostly doing trades this year and its been fun!

I traded a baby Taylor for a baritone ukulele and it went just fine.

So fine I went and bought another ukulele……

I once bough a guitar off a member and sold one to a member. Both great experiences. But there are scammers everywhere so do your due diligence!

Yep and we've become friends; text about every day. Promote each others GAS, send links to guitars, discuss guitars, discuss family and just have a grand time. Taylorcrazy is one cool dude and the only person that I'd ever sell(or trade) my Gibson J-35(Georgia) to(got her in our first trade).

Yes. I traded an OM without a cutaway for an OM with a cutaway. Worked out great.

I’ve done a few trades, maybe four or five. I’ve believed all of them to have resulted fairly.
Of all the guitars I’ve traded for, I still have the Martin Jeff Tweedy 00db, and a Collings C10 MRA both I have kept because they make fantastic sounds.
One guitar I traded away I bought back when it’s new owner chose to move it along, and I’m very pleased I did.

It’s certainly a little stressful if you are not familiar with the other party involved.

Yes, I have traded several times here, & all good! If you're careful, chat on the phone, & get a feel for the other guy, things go well! Many of us know each other from being on the forum for years, so no getting acquainted necessary. I have found it's much more fun than buying & selling. Some, like Roy above, I have dealt with more than once!

Sorry, no. I deal with CL mostly, and on rare occasions the pawn shop and even rarer occasions friends/bandmates.

Yes, once. Very positive experience. As have the majority of my transactions on AGF. It’s almost like the people here are trustworthy.

Just be mindful of anyone with “sox” in their username.

Yes, although we were both in the same town so we had the opportunity to check out the instruments before we traded.
