I restrung my gthree dreads today. I have a Collings DS2h (EIR) and a DS1asb (adi top) and a DS1 (sitka top).

Dreads are big guitars and are designed to take mediums so 13-56.
I don't really understand why any one would put light strings on a dread.

So why do so many dreadnaughts come with 12's on them?
And what about beginners with their sore fingers?

Default What do you string your hogs up with?

I use GHS Americanas on my all mahogany Alvarez that is between a parlor and 00 in size. It is a nice in between tone - brighter than PBs or nickel and warmer than 80/20s. It is a lightly built short scale 12 fret and 12-54s work great on it. It likes extra lights as well as it is a very responsive guitar.
Best,
Jayne

SCGC Parabolics on my all hog 000. More money but last quite long for me.
