would you consider a 000 (short scale 24.9") with adi top and rosewood B&S but with the worn streetmaster look? Martin now has a 000-16 Streetmaster with those specs. has the 1 3/4 nut you need as well:

Thanks for the links. That's a good looking and good sounding guitar, but I really prefer a dreadnought. That's why I sold my RK 000.

I have a question: Why would a HD-16R be selling for $500 more than the Special 16 Style Rosewood? They are both 16 Series guitars.

Availability?
Optimism?

Just because they're asking that doesn't mean they'll get it.

The HD-16R has something of a cult following since it has a number of premium features, like a red spruce top, herringbone trim, etc. The neck joint is the main thing that distinguishes it from a Standard series guitar (and if I’m not mistaken, the earliest versions had a dovetail neck joint).

I think T Spoon Phillips did a nice write-up of the guitar.

Right, thanks for that. Although there are two versions of it -- the Adirondack, and the LSH (Large Sound Hole) which has a Sitka top. Looks to me like the one with Sitka top shouldn't go for as much as the Adi-topped one.

I highlighted the neck joint. You get a M/T neck joint that comes with A-frame bracing, but you get the Adirondack top.

Thanks for posting the HD-16R Adirondack specs. The LSH version is different, though -- Sitka top and not the v-neck of the Adi.

I just got a quote from Musician's Friend for 15% off the Special 16 Style Rosewood Dreadnought. That's tempting.

P.S. Where did you find the specs on Sweetwater's site? I couldn't find the guitar listed there.

Hey what's up Troubador, If your looking for a guitar that is not so vulnerable to the elements, check out a Carbon fiber guitars, I played a "Rainsong " dread years ago. To me it would be the best all around camping or go anywhere guitar. I know Rainsongs are expensive but there are other choices.

Thanks for the tip, and the link.

Hey, that guitar sounds really good! Thanks for giving me that option. What's the nut width on this? I can't find that info.

I usually don't like much of anything "modern", but after listening to that Youtube clip and seeing and hearing all the features, and price, I was just about ready to get this guitar. I love the tone! And it would have been perfect for how I was going to use it. But then I went to Amazon and read the Q&A, and found out the nut width is 1 11/16. My heart sank.

Here are the specs on Sweetwater: Sweetwater—Martin HD-16R Adirondack

I think I was confusing the HD-16R with the D-16M. From what I can tell, the early HD-16Rs had M&T neck joints, and then switched to simple dovetail neck joints.

To be honest I have 1 11/16 guitars and 1 3/4 nut width guitar and when I was playing my Martin Marquis all the time that has a 1 3/4 nut and not playing my other guitars it was a bit of a challenge going back, but I changed my practice habits and made sure I played both and in no time it became a non issue going back and forth, just practice a little and it's nothing
