I just played a Larrivee OM-03 this past weekend that was a few dollars over $1500 new. You can also find them on the web. This one had old strings on it and it still sounded great. I think you could play any kind of music with this model.

Default Spruce Tree Music Madison, WI and Larrivee availability

I have been trying to make it over to Madison to stop in and try the Larrivee 12 fret models he has in stock. They are 1.75" nut and long scale. Last time I checked he had the standard 000-40 in mahogany (<$1500), the limited version (about $1800) as well as the rosewood 000-40R. I am not sure about the price on the rosewood as I was more interested in mahogany. I forgot the owners name, but he is exceptionally helpful and patient. Here are some links:

Thanks for the links.
I am interested in the Larrivee brand but would want to play some before buying.
There are no dealers locally.

While I understand (and appreciate/recommend) wanting to try a guitar before you buy it, it would be hard to recommend anything without knowing what's available around you locally to try.

The larrivees are pretty good guitars. An L body would be likely suit what you are looking for. Here is one you could stick a pickup on: https://reverb.com/item/40148774-lar...-03-2020-satin

Here's an OM: https://reverb.com/item/34248985-lar...n-summer-burst

Taylor 314ce, although I like the previous recommendations about buying a guitar you like and putting in aftermarket pickups.

I found a local guitar shop that has a few Larrivee guitars on order and will be here in 3 weeks.
I will try to be patient and wait to see what shows up.

I bought a concert-size Breedlove a couple years back to use as a stage guitar, and it has performed nicely. Great playability. It's my only acoustic/electric, and my only cutaway, but it sounds great plugged in. Size is perfect.

Yamaha LS16 A.R.E. Demo:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx8rVBIj2K8
Comes with a decent passive pickup and a good, semi-rigid case. Highly recommended and well within the OP budget.

I can't find this guitar anywhere.
The LL-16 is available but not the LS-16.

I own the LL-16-12 and really like it.

Are you sure that a new guitar is the answer, and not an external preamp that enhances the acoustic sound?

Everybody is talking about Tonedexter but there are more affordable ones from Fishman and Zoom, at least.

I have narrowed the search down these 3 guitars for now.

Martin Road Series 000-12 or 13
Yamaha LS-16
Larrivee L-03

All fit my requirements but none are available locally.
My playing style is with a flat pick most of the time but not just strumming.
I am leaning toward Rosewood sides and back but won't rule out Mahogany.

Hard decision to make but fun trying to decide.

The owner is Wil Bremmer, and he is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He's a straight shooter to be sure.
