Allow me to convey that you are a very fortunate man. I’d give a “Phoenician Cutaway” for one of Johns guit-fiddles…and you know how rare those things are. -joel

I'm using laminated WRC linings. Here is the top edge on the cutaway side nearly ready to install. I need to shape the bottom edge of the lining first so it will look pretty to the inquisitive.

From the department of redundancy department here is the final finished out version of the top cutaway laminated lining.
It's not WRC after all but Spanish Cedar. I may inflict pictures of lining for each edge of the body. The bass side ed is next along with arm rest reinforcement

Top lining installed
The rim is getting really stiff at this point.
Bottom lining is next to stiffen the rim to the point that the mold will not be needed to glue on the plates

That’s looking—already—like it will make some serious music!

Neck, peg head, frets, inlay, tuner install, bridge, and fitting the whole thing together and making it all work. I got off easy.
Did I mention finishing the neck? Whew.

All the laminated is in. The rim is holding its shape nicely
The reinforcement veneer for the soundport is cocobolo. The cutaway also has cocobolo reinforcement. I thinned that area to help with the bend.

I am late to the party (voted 000 12 fret) but so glad I made it. I am sure this will be another fabulous guitar from the skilled hands in TX and NC.
I Kinnairdly wait to see, and hopefully hear, the finished collaBRO guitar. Last edited by Godfather; 11-02-2021 at 02:10 PM. |

I like colaBRO—that’s clever. J.Long suggested “Cocolabo”, which is also good. Any more? |

"I Kinnairdly wait to see" was a great start to my day; thank you.
