College Football 2021
Though we are several weeks from the beginning of the season I thought we could get this started!
I was surprised to learn that the two premier Big 12 teams are angling to join the SEC. What does that mean for the Big 12, and the college football landscape moving forward? Other than millions of dollars what do TX and OK have to gain- are they losing the recruiting battles to TX A&M because of conference affiliation? I’ll watch with interest as this plays out. Any predictions for for the up coming season? Are the number of teams in the playoffs going to be increased? If the number grows that could be really interesting. |

Simply put it's a money grab by UT/OU and the SEC. What else isn't a money grab these days?
The SEC network rights fees are already huge and adding UT and OU would allow the SEC to renegotiate to something larger by adding 2 FB blue bloods to the conference. The payout to each conference member would increase substantially. The rest of the B12 would be cast off to the wind. A couple of them might find a home in one of the other power conferences (KU to the B1G is already rumored) but the rest would have to settle for 2nd tier status. |

Matt Campbell will head to Michigan as a result of this and bring Brock Purdy in as QB, grad transfer. Jim Harbaugh and Scott Frost will collect their payouts and coach adult flag football for Key West FL park and rec.

The one school that is super PO'd about this is Texas A&M. They left the B12 simply because they despised UT and supposedly had an agreement with the SEC that they'd be the only TX school in the conference.
If the rumors are true all of this was negotiated without A&M's knowledge, and they are not happy about it. Wouldn't shock me a bit if they bolted for another conference. |

Apparently OU and TX were no shows for their conference meetings and did not renew their Big 12 media rights.
Looks like the move is going to happen. I thought TX A&M and Missouri moved because the Big 12 did not have revenue sharing and TX took a large portion of revenue. The SEC splits revenue evenly. So that move was understandable. I would think A&M would not want to share any recruiting advantage with another Texas school or Oklahoma. So they have something to lose. I wonder if Alabama, OSU and Clemson can reload and be competitive after losing so much talent to the NFL? Anyone up to date on the Name-Image-Likeness (NIL) changes/ rules that have gone into effect? I think the unintended consequences could be enormous and far reaching. |

There are rumblings that Ohio State may be defecting to SEC.

Ohio State in the SEC? I would expect a flock of pigs to fly by before the proud OSU vacated whatever conference they are in for the SEC. But I also read that FSU, Clemson, OSU and Michigan were contemplating the move. Hard to believe. Read this today which seems true: https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...ther-gets-best |
