Default K boys, help me pick a fretboard contour

I realize there's some overlap, but try to pick a favorite. Kudos to Kramster for providing the model!

Girls too! Probably have more sense than all us boys put together.

I like the flow of #4. I am not a girl, although some of my favorite people are girls.

2, for the function.

The highest treble reach you can have.

I prefer 1, 3 and 5 which are quite similar. I am not a girl. They’re all beautiful and you’re in for one beautiful guitar. I’m sure you’re having fun with the customization process. Now enjoy the angst of the wait.

I'd go with #2 or #8 for maximum access to higher frets and so that the fret board doesn't extend far enough to be in the way of your strumming stroke. My X20-12 has only 20 frets instead of 24 for that reason, plus I almost never play above fret 17. One thing I've noticed - the bevel is very comfortable, but puts my forearm in a slightly different place than a hard-edged guitar, so I strum a bit closer to the end of the fret board.

Those are the practical reasons. I'll leave aesthetic / artistic judgments to others.

I'd agree - #2, for exactly that reason.

They are all very attractive.

#6 or #2 for max frets on the trebles.

They have nice contours parallel to the slope of the cut-out on the fretbord side. And in playing position the bottom edge is vertical symmetrical to the top edge of the headstock.

I like #6 a tiny bit better for overall proportions to the cutout and bridge. (less important is max frets on string 4 the same as 1-3)

.

#2 Is the only one that makes sense from the playing perspective - the others are aesthetic only.

Even at that, I don’t like the look of the fret ending so close to the end of its support. There is little reason to have the curve coming to meet the end of the fret. It should have as much relief between the fret and end of the fingerboard at the high E as it does for the low E. It looks unbalanced if you actually pay attention to the details.

Hmm, I guess that actually makes my preferred response “None of the above”, although I have nothing against an extended fretboard.

Ok, all of the above and none of the above. That about covers it.

I would also pick #2 for functional playing purposes: I use all 24 frets on the first 2 or 3 strings, not so much on strings 4, 5 and 6.

Beautiful guitars!!!!
