Default Need your help to verify the last two strings (trebles) on this?

Hi all

I love creative 'tunings' and as near as I can tell this is an open B minor tuning. I've listened and retuned my Kronbauer to B-B-D-F#-b-d. I have also experimented with B-B-D-F#-a-d. Either way

I'd love your help in verifying the trebles (the b-d, a-d or other) of the tuning. There are only 4/5 chords (and 2 or three fingerings) she uses. She's actually a keyboardist who plays guitar occasionally. By selectively strumming strings I can make either tuning I listed work.

This tuning works with the fingerings she's doing, and I hear a flat-7 note when they coast on the open Bm, but there are a lot of other guitars on that stage who are just playing in Bm (D). Lots of Pentatonic lead wending around in there (and slide).

She is often only playing strings 3-4-5-6 (which is the basic chord).

This is Molly Skaggs (Ricky Skagg's daughter)…what an amazing contemporary rendition of an old mountain tune!! The other two singers in the front row (husband and wife) are her bandmates from Uncaged Bird (her band).

Thanks in advance…

Right. You have 1-3-5 in the tuning B-F#-B-D-F#-B. Notes in Bm scale: B, C♯, D, E, F♯, G, and A

Hi r-s

Tried it, while playing the video through a large system, and that's not it.

The bottom two (bass) definitely sound octave to my ear.

No, not that. Octave B is on 6-4 strings. On listening a bit more don't really hear a D on the 3 string so more of a modal sounding tuning, say B-F#-B-F#-F#-B.

Thanks Derek…Her fingerings don't quite work with either of the two tunings you suggested (at least not string,,omg all 6 strings together). And I'm assuming your suggest of 4th string 'B' is achieved by tuning down, not taking the D up a minor third?

The recording/video is so well mixed that sometimes I can't even detect which guitar on stage is blended. I may put on head phones and try to dig it out with stereo separation on the album version. This is the version they released on the album version, so I'm sure the video has been taken through a studio edit.

B-F#-B-F#-F#-B works for me as far as I have listened but so does B-F#-B-F#-B-B. You might try B-F#-B-F#-B-B.

So for your original question 1 and 2 strings are B and F# or B and B. It is a I-V power chord like droning sound. Each string tuned down a few notches from
standard tuning, no string tuned upward. Most definitely a B note on the first string. However you go at it some more. I'm out.
