Default Where to store humidipaks when not in use?

I carry my hard case often. Where should I store my humidipaks if I do carry it around and not use it? In a ziplock bag? Thanks.

Leave them permanently in the case - they are two-way units (although they are more efficient at outputting humidity than they are soaking it up) and will keep the case and guitar conditioned.

I'm scared it might leak if I carry my case sideways.

I do the same. They stay right in the case.

Also, I don't worry about leaks since I inspect them closely when I first open the Humidipak box and I never re-use them. Never had a problem

That's perfect. None of my guitars has any packets in the cases at all right now. Humidity is around 50-55% with nothing.

I’m having a problem understanding ‘when not in use’. Surely the point of humidipaks is to maintain the RH in the case whatever the ambient RH outside the case may be. So why would they ever be ‘not in use’?

I have them in two cases - they’re in there permanently.

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.

I have some but I monitor with Sensor Push. Right now the humidity in the cases is right around 50%. I see no need to leave them in place so I take them out and put in ziplock bags until winter comes around and I need them again.

Well do you carry your case sideways around while the humidipaks are flopping sideways with it?

Also my hygrometer came today. Time to Velcro.

Let me also add that I don’t sling my case around like I do my hiking backpack. There’s an expensive guitar in there and I treat it as such. Because of that, I’m not worried I’m going to tear the humidipack.

Yes I do, and my cases are stored on their bottom end in a rack. But the packs lie in the headstock area and hang in their suspension-pocket between the strings, they don’t ‘flop sideways’.

I think you might be over-thinking things a little!
