Default What's the longest you've gone without looking at the classifieds?

It's been the last 10 days for me. I've never gone that long before. Perhaps I'm actually satisfied with what I have??? Is that even possible???

The only time that I look at guitars prices is when I'm looking for others.
I am very happy with my current collection.
Not saying that it will never change but for now I am very happy with what I have.

I don't think I've checked the classifieds, looked at Craigslist, or been in a pawn shop since I bought my D-18 in 2017.

I personally almost never look at the classifieds - if I'm in the market for something, I will have a look to see if there is a used one available. And if I'm planning to sell, I will also have a look to get a good idea of where I should set the sales price. As I'm entering my 3rd year into this hobby, I've only owned mostly lower tier Yamahas, Taylors, one Ibanez, one Washburn, and now Martins (my D-28 MD is the by far the highest tier guitar I've ever owned) - quite truthfully I often have to go several pages deep before I find any of the brands listed (Martin is an exception). I will say in my few looks at the classifieds that many of you have amazingly impressive collections - I'll reiterate what another poster mentioned in another thread about having classifieds for lower priced guitars and another for the more premium stuff.

I usually check the classifieds 2x a day. I'm looking to add another acoustic to the herd and am pretty sure that one day it will appear. I also like looking at the photos.

Honestly in the 9 years I've been here, I think maybe I've gone 2 days without checking, and that was only because I was swamped with work and blocked everything else out.

Otherwise I'm good for at least 5 checks per day. I like to keep tabs on what's selling and for how much, and I remember most everything too.

Default Classifieds? Want Ads?

Last time I checked the classifieds was when I read an actual brick bones News Paper, which was probably 20 years ago.

I've never looked.
I only buy and sell on Craigslist because it's in person, local, no shipping, cash.
Simple, reliable, and clean.
I feel in-person transactions are less risky and more in my control - we don't meet till the other passes one of my probing phone interrogations ... Oh, I mean conversations.

I read so many horror stories (including right here on AGF) of, scams, counterfeit cashiers checks, guitars lost, damaged or stolen in shipping - unethical sellers or buyers - returns - refund arguments - disputes with UPS/FedEx/USPS.

No thanks.

Since re taking up the guitar & the finding this forum I'd check the classifieds daily to learn about what is available out there & what to expect for pricing. Great education & in those 5 or 6 years I've bought three more guitars (& a couple of mandos). Right now though, since getting on a year long build wait list, I haven't looked since early June. Can't think about more than one a year & don't have anything I want to part with. I just don't want to have one of those moments. Looking forward to perusing again next year.
