Holy smokes!! Wow! Just wow!

Beautifully designed and magnificently executed... Tim is at the height of his luthierial (is that even a word?) powers!!!

Dennis: you are one lucky guy. You have to post some recordings/sound clips when you get your hands on it.

That Tim McKnight guy sure has his act together. I’m impressed, once again!

I know how fortunate I am! Give me some time to get acquainted and I will do some recording.

Some of the final touches today. In a way I'm sorry to see the build journey winding down. It has been such fun working with the McKnights! On the other hand, I'm about bursting at the seams.

Even the label is custom!

Some customized Gotoh 510 tuners are installed.

Reaming tuner holes to final size.

Last quality control check on the fret tops after sanding transitional relief into the fretboard.

Look close and you can see a light mark on the fret crowns where the 400 grit sanding beam just kissed the fret crowns. This indicates the frets match the transitional relief which is the goal. No frets to level or re-crown.

Same verification on the fretboard fall away.

Flap sanding frets with 320, 400, 600, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit and finally 000 steel wool.

Now this is something I have been waiting for. I was intrigued before we ever got started when Tim told me if I was interested in ivory for nut and saddle, he had some ivory piano keys he could laminate. No animals would be harmed. I said lets go for it.

Each one is sanded before lamination.

Those with defects are not used. This one goes in the guitar-in-a-bag for posterity.

Marking the saddle height before sanding.

Preparing to compensate the saddle. • Video

Since the height is different when completed, the nut is marked for bass and treble side.

This tool sands the bottom of the nut and saddle perfectly flat on a granite surface plate.

The fitted nut is sanded in a curve to support the break angle.

This stuff is excellent for fretboards and bridges. I got some myself. Works great. • Video

The first stringing.

And the first strum.

Then the nut is cut for the strings and glued in place.

Then tuned and placed on a tonerite for 3-4 days before final setup. • Video

Thanks Tom. This guitar will scratch all the itches. I am really really looking forward to it. Tim says it rumbles!

Well … barring anything unforeseen maybe Thu or Fri next week. Still a couple things to finish up and I don't want Tim to feel rushed.

Stunning guitar Dennis!
Congratulations and thank you to Both you and the McKnight’s for sharing this incredible journey with us.
Your design along with Tim and Marys execution on this build is one for the record books.

I look forward to hearing the recordings.

Love it Dennis. You are on a roll my friend. If it sounds as good as it looks you will be in 6 string heaven!
