Default Sail Away Ladies, John Fahey cover

Hello, my solo version of Sail Away Ladies. Originally played as a duet by Fahey and Al Wilson (on Veena.)

You definitely make it sound like Fahey.
Big, bold, clean, steady, punchy sound. Loved it.
Thank you for posting it.

Thanks Picking Moose. I loved the sound that Fahey got out of his Bacon & Day guitar, thudding bass and all!

Just FYI, Fahey's favorite guitars were Martins. The original Blind Joe Death was recorded on a 19th century Martin O sized New Yorker. Album #6 has a 1928 00-28 on the cover, and he toured with a D-35 for many years. The Gibson and Bacon and Day were colorful exceptions.

Thanks for the great info gfirob. I remember, quite awhile ago, Fahey saying something about using a Gibson on his "Death of Death and other Plantation Favorites." Seem to recall him saying something about it having real high action, but had this brightness that worked well for the album (One of my all-time Fahey favorites.)

Great playing, Post. I enjoyed it so much, I listened to it twice. You really capture the essence of Fahey's style. Are you playing a Collings OM on the video?

Thanks for the nice comment pickiray. Yes, it's a Collins OM2h, very pleased with it.

Always great to hear someone play with that feel and note color on slow pieces and sections that Fahey had, which you do well.
