I don't have insurance. I only have one guitar and it's less than $500

Folks, remember insurance is regulated by the States so Home insurance can vary State to State. Best practice would be to call your Agent and get a clear answer on what is and isn't covered on your policy. You would generally have to pay your deductible in the event of a claim (riders frequently may not have a deductible). Once you have that info you can decide if you need a specialty company.

One problem to keep an eye out on is if you ever get paid for playing, then your guitar may not be covered. Insurance even considers playing for free at a charity event if there is an admission charge as professional appearances.
Oh, and I have Heritage as well, never a claim, so can't speak to that.

Another happy Heritage customer here. I have only had to file one claim and it was handled beautifully. I shipped a guitar to be put on consignment and it was damaged in shipping. Heritage quickly responded. They worked with the seller to get the repair done by a top flight luthier and repair person who I agreed was the best, reimbursed me for the shipping cost and gave me an amount to fairly offset the money I would lose in selling a repaired instrument rather than a used one. Prompt, friendly, professional and all communication was clear, concise and accurate. I highly recommend.
