You need to record the audio with a DAW and a computer (and mics, audio interface, etc). Mix in the DAW, then combine that audio with the videos you have shot in Vegas. Vegas is not an audio editor, it is a video editor.

Naw that's just not true. Vegas came into this world strictly as an audio DAW that was also capable of some limited video editing. Somewhere along the line Sony realized there wasn't much room for yet another DAW and began porting it to a primarily video editor with an exceedingly good audio engine. Roland toyed with Sony for awhile trying to make the VS series work with Vegas. It didn't make it to market.

Still Vegas is a very capable audio DAW and certainly more than able to do what the OP is asking for.

It sounds to me like he's encountering some degree of latency while perhaps using a Galaxy 4 as a mic and interface? That of course would be a buffering, driver, setting issue somewhere along the line. Assuming Vegas recognizes the S4 I'd start by looking at tiny buffer sizes (for recording) in the Vegas preferences.

What Joseph said, and I will simply add that one thing to consider and this may or may not be the case BUT recording will quickly highlight is ones timing flaws.
Which is why especially for dubbing working with and even recording with click, drum beat, or even a cheap metronome is beneficial

Well, latency can be understood, but doesn't Vegas let you 'move' one of the takes on the timeline to align them?

Yes of course any non-linear editing program (be it video or audio) is capable of moving anything, anywhere. That said the root of the problem appears to be some type of buffering issue. I dunno how the OP is interfacing his/her S4 (I'm not even sure what the "S4" is) Still as with almost every interface-to-software solution available these days at very, very worse latency should be extremely slight.

Picking up and hand syncing audio in a two track project (because of latency) seems like the LONG, LONG way to home. Fixing the problem at the buffer stage seems like a much more musical solution.
